Yoán Moncada Cleared to Join White Sox Summer Camp

As exciting as it has been just to have White Sox baseball back these past two weeks, his absence — and an eventual trip to the injured list — has been concerning.

While the White Sox refused to classify it as such, deductive reasoning will lead us to assume that Moncada was one of the two failed COVID-19 tests during the initial screening process.

After seeing Moncada’s likely placeholder Cheslor Cuthbert — career OPS+ of 80 — play third base on Wednesday, it’ll be music to the ears of White Sox fans everywhere that Major League Baseball has cleared Moncada to return to play and join the White Sox’s Summer Camp at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Coming off of a breakout 2019 season in which Yoan Moncada hit .315 with 25 home runs, 75 RBI, and a sizzling .915 OPS, the White Sox will rely heavily on the 25-year-old third baseman to help carry them to their first Postseason appearance since 2008.
