White Sox vs A’s Wild Card Series Preview

The Chicago White Sox made “Soxtober 2020” a reality after a season of the highest of highest and even some of the lowest of lows. Over the weekend, they closed their season out winning just one-of-three in their matchup against the Cubs.

White Sox starting pitching was atrocious, their hitting was lackluster and they could only muster together 13 runs in three games. The Cubs came in the series struggling too but outscored the Sox by 13. They finished the regular season 35-25.

Despite their struggles late, their August performance helped propel the Sox into playoff position. It is their first appearance since 2008. That season the were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays in four games. This time around, they are hoping for much different results.

Sunday’s 10-8 White Sox loss to the Cubs landed them seventh in the AL standings. This lined them up to play against the second-seeded Oakland Athletics in Oakland. This will be their first trip in 2020 against a AL West opponent.

Final Thought

The ending to the White Sox season was a disappointment to the fanbase and an overall struggle for the players. Toward the end of their final regular game they began to show some fight and overall joy in playing the game. Some hope that is enough to spark the offense in this Wild Card series.
